Two women killed by husbands on Eid’s first day
Karachi: Five persons were killed in separate incidents during the three days of Eid-ul-Azha including two women who were killed by their husbands.
One Tasleema, 35, wife of Abdul Majeed, was strangulated to death by her husband on the first day of Eid at the Punjab Colony in Sharifabad police limits, police sources said. Tasleema, mother of four children and hailed from Rahim Yar Khan, was beaten by the husband while she was entertaining her relatives, including her brother Akhtar and nephew Latif.
Majeed, however, accused his wife of engaging in ‘immoral acts’ in front of her relatives. After killing his wife, Majeed fled with Akhtar and Latif. People of the area informed the police who reached the spot and shifted the body to a hospital.
A police team then started the search for Majeed and arrested him near the Liaquatabad intercity bus stand, while Akhtar and Latif fled. A case was registered and investigation is under way.
In a separate case, Seema, 27, was slaughtered by her husband, Qadir, in the Nayabad area of Kalri police limits, also on the first day of Eid, the police sources said.
They added that Seema, a mother of two, along with Qadir and their children, had come to her parents’ house in the Nayabad area when the couple started arguing with each other after which the husband took her in a room and slaughtered her.
Father of the deceased, Javed Ali, told the police that the couple often argued with each other and blamed Qadir for killing her daughter. The accused was later arrested by the police and further probe is under way.
