KARACHI: The latest issues of Qaumi Zuban and Urdu literary magazines of the Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu are now available in the market.

An Ibn-e-Insha special, the monthly Qaumi Zuban features articles by Jamiluddin Aali titled Ibn-e-Insha Aur Yaadon Kay Dareechay and another by Dr Javed Manzar, Inshajee Aur Unki Tahreerain. There are other articles in the magazine that could be of interest to literary connoisseurs such as by Dr Waheedur Rahman Khan in which he does a comparative analysis of Wazir Khanam and Umrao Jaan Ada, arguably two of the most intriguing women characters in Urdu literature. Sadaf Hasan`s piece on women and humour writing also looks appealing.

The Anjuman`s quarterly research journal Urdu features an in-depth article by Dr Azmat Rubab on the compilers of Dabistan-e-Rampur and a critical analysis of Wahab Ashrafi`s Taarikh-e-Urdu Adab (history of Urdu literature) by Dr Ayesha Saeed. Saleem Siddiqui explores romanticism in English poetry and dramas analysing the works of William Wordsworth, William Blake, Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley among others. This piece is however marred by poor English spellings.
