Two killed, 10 injured in Quetta blast

QUETTA: Two people were killed and 10 others, including three FC personnel, were injured in a bomb explosion at the Almo Chowk on the Airport Road here on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Sanaullah and Muhammad Rafiq.

The condition of some of the injured was critical, hospital sources said.Reports said that the bomb had been strapped to a bicycle. “It was a time device which was tied to a bicycle,” police said.

When an FC vehicle went past the bicycle at around 1:30pm, the bomb went off, followed by intense firing. The bang of the explosion was also heard several kilometers away and windows of nearby buildings were smashed. Panic gripped the area as aerial firing started after the blast. The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital and CMH.

“About four to five kilogrammes of explosive material was used in the explosion,” said officials of the bomb disposal squad. Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani condemned the incident and expressed his deep grief over the loss of lives.
