Two journalists hurt in Quetta blast

QUETTA: Two journalists, including a photojournalist, were injured when a bomb went off outside the offices of local newspapers in the Universal Complex here on Monday, police said. The bomb was planted with a gas geyser, the police said.

It exploded with a bang and its sound was heard at far off places in the city. The explosion triggered panic in the area. The windowpanes of nearby buildings, shops and a medical complex were broken as a result of the blast. Sub-editor Abdul Qayyum and photojournalist Jamal Tarakai of the daily Awam sustained minor injuries as a result of the blast.

The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital where the doctors discharged them after providing necessary treatment. Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman on Monday strongly condemned the bomb blast near the office of

Daily Awam in Quetta and directed the provincial administration to bring the culprits to book.
