Two employees of GRDO observe hunger strike

They said the GRDO and Action Aid International Pakistan signed an agreement in June 2005 to purchase lands in taluka Hyderabad rural for the rehabilitation of the farm labourers living in makeshift camps in Hyderabad suburbs after getting freed from bondage of different farm owners in lower Sindh.
They said under the agreement the Action Aid had provided Rs 7.5 million to the GRDO to purchase the plots for the planning of colonies of these labourers. The hunger strikers said the office bearers of the GRDO purchased 27.5 acres land in Union Councils Tando Haider and Husri but showed 600% higher rates on record. They also alleged that the GRDO office bearers purchased the lands in their names and did not transfer the ownership rights to the labourers who are still waiting for the plots.
