TV staffer killed in duty in carnage in Lahore

Ijaz-ul-Haq, a satellite technician of Lahore based TV channel “City 42” was among the 94 people killed armed attacks on worship places of minority Ahmedi community in Garhi Shahu and Model Town areas in Lahore on Friday, May 28, 2010.

According to press reports Haq was wou ssault at Garhi Shahu and later died of injuries.

Imtiaz Bhutta, News Producer, City 42 told PPF that Haq was praying during the attack when channel news team contacted him asking for coverage. He was on live beeper call when a bullet hit him on left side of his chest. He was taken to the hospital after two hours by rescue team where declared dead. He leaves behind two sons, two daughters and a widow.

Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik Sunday announced a financial assistance of Rs. 500,000 (US$ 5,900). During his visit to the office of City 42, minister said the government would provide free education to his children.
