TV channel’s transmission jammed in Gujrat

LAHORE: Transmissions of a local news channel were jammed in Gujrat on Thursday after it aired live coverage of the city police roughing up students of Government Zamindara College, a private TV channel reported.

Sources said the channel’s transmission was jammed on Thursday evening by the provincial government. But Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah denied the government had blocked the transmission, the channel said. Sanaullah rejected the federal government’s claim that the Punjab government jammed the transmission, saying it could be an act of an individual and the provincial government would investigate the matter at the earliest. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also took notice of the matter and ordered an inquiry report into the incident within two days, the channel said. The channel’s transmission was resumed after a two-hour blockade later on Thursday.
