TV artist’s 14th death anniversary observed

ISLAMABAD: The 14th death anniversary of top artist of the Pakistan Television Khalida Riyasat who dominated dramas for almost two decades was observed on Thurs day.

She performed in all types of dramas including short stories, long plays, series, comedy plays etc and proven her talent in all these.

She died because of cancer on August 26th 1996 at the age of 43.

Khalida Riyasat came on television in the late 70s and in a short period made a massive impact on audiences with startlingly good performances in various plays. She was the sister of famous actress Ayesha Khan, a private channel reported.

She along with Uzma Gilani and Rohi Bano dominated TV dramas in 70s and early 80s.The television detective series, `NaamDaar.’ Shakeel- Khalida Riyasat played the lead roles and solved the murder mysteries.

Khalid Riyasat turned into a household name that was acknowledged by TV viewers all across the country. People liked her every performance and all performed characters.
She was respected by the masses for her sober and intelligent work.

Almost daily, she used to appear on TV screen and people liked to wait for seeing her perform in every passing day.

After early 80’s, she suddenly left the TV screen mysteriously and disappeared for no obvious reasons.

After departing from TV and dramas, no much information or public appearances were made by her and people remained unaware about her new interest or busy being.

Before her departing forever, few scattered news stories, informing about her sickness and not well being, appeared in public but passed unnoticed.

After fighting for a long time with cancer, she died on August 26th, 1996 at the age of 43 leaving a vast majority of fans and family members in a state of shock and sorrow.
