ISLAMABAD: Fawad Ali, a staff reporter with The Express Tribune, was injured on Thursday, when a driver and conductor of a public transport wagon beat him up at Zero Point.

The incident took place when driver of the van refused to complete the designated route. Irked by violation of rules, the reporter and other passengers asked the conductor to complete the route. The conductor and the driver abused Ali, which resulted in a scuffle. The driver and the conductor beat Ali black and blue. Ali was hit in the face with an iron rod breaking his nose. He called colleagues, who shifted him to Polyclinic hospital’s emergency ward.

The police impounded the van and shifted the conductor and the driver to Aabpara Police Station.

The reporter’s colleagues filed a complaint with Aabpara police. The officials, however, said a formal case would be registered after receipt of the medico-legal report, which will be issued on Friday (today).

Commuters face difficulties due to non-completion of route by public transporters.
