Training workshop for journalists held

PESHAWAR: Journalists Welfare, Safety and Development Foundation (JWSDF), Pakistan in collaboration with Press Club and Strengthening Participatory Organisation (SPO) organised a two-day training workshop on protecting the life and losses of journalists and carrying their responsibility during reporting in conflicts.

Those who addressed the training workshop was included senior journalists, Ismail Khan, Abdullah Jan, Syed Bokhar Shah Bacha, president, PPC, Nasir Hussein, Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU), Shafqat Malik, Director Information, Behramnd Khan and chairman, JWSDF, Ali Hazrat Bacha.

On the occasion, chairman JWSDF highlighted the purpose and objectives of the establishment of the foundation and said that the financial situation of journalists is grave and they are even not paid the salaries fixed under Wage Award. He said that in case of death their families are neither supported by their organisation nor at the level of the government and their heirs to face difficult situation.

Ali Hazrat said that the foundation is being established while taking into consideration the conditions of such journalists and their families. The foundation, he said will not only cater for taking welfare efforts for the journalists of Peshawar, but also at the national level.

He said that he is required the support and co-operation of all journalists in this regard. During the training workshop where in light of their experience senior journalists gave useful advises with the young, they also stressed for taking precautionary measures for the protection of their own life. They said that the news is not worthy than their life.
