TikTok and PTA Host Youth Safety Summit to Promote Online Safety and Digital Literacy
TikTok, in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), hosted the Youth Safety Summit Pakistan to raise awareness about online safety, promote digital literacy, and foster collaboration among stakeholders to protect Pakistani youth.

A notable feature of the event was the launch of the ‘Digital Hifazat’ initiative, a joint effort by TikTok and PTA to promote online safety and digital literacy among youth. PTA also highlighted its initiatives to create a safer digital environment, emphasizing child protection in cyberspace.
TikTok emphasized its safety measures, including features like Family Pairing, Community Guidelines, and the Youth Safety Portal, which are designed to help parents and educators create a secure online experience for children.
The event included a panel discussion titled “Enhancing Child Online Safety,” featuring experts from PTA, Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Pakistan, and SAHIL, a child protection NGO. The panel provided diverse insights into strategies for improving online protection for children.
PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeezur Rehman stated: “This summit marks a significant step in our mission to secure a safe and inclusive digital ecosystem for Pakistan’s youth.”
TikTok’s Director of Government Relations and Public Policy, Emir Gelen, underscored the platform’s dedication to digital safety, calling the summit a milestone in its collaboration with PTA. He noted, “At TikTok, we are committed to ensuring the online safety and well-being of our users, particularly children and youth. We believe that this summit marks an important step towards creating a safer online environment in Pakistan. We’re dedicated to promoting digital literacy and online safety through our initiatives, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with the PTA to achieve this goal.”
As part of the summit, TikTok and PTA announced the #DigitalHifazat Contest to raise awareness about digital safety among Pakistani youth. Participants were invited to create videos addressing responsible social media use, online harassment, fraud prevention, youth well-being, and misinformation. The contest received 11,000 entries, with three winners recognized for their creative contributions.
Building on the summit’s success, TikTok and PTA announced the expansion of their Public Policy Program with a continued focus on Digital Hifazat.
