TiE Islamabad chapter launched: women to be inducted in all walks of life, says Gilani

ISLAMABAD (June 22 2008): Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that there is a dire need to harness our natural resources and manpower in order to overcome the menace of poverty and unemployment. Addressing the launching ceremony of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) he said.

“We are fortunate enough as almost 40 per cent of population is less than 15 years, by providing them proper education and training no one can stop us from making progress.” He said that a multidimensional approach to change the direction is required to cope with changing world order in the field of business and education. The TiE would be an endeavour to address these issues and this forum would be considered as a think tank for the government, he added.

He said that it is a coincidence that the TiE took its start with a very similar aim as that of the new government – to create jobs, encourage the budding and small entrepreneurs to overcome the menace of poverty. He said that we must induct our women into every department of life, therefore, female entrepreneurs would be given equal opportunities and encouragement to excel in their small business ventures.

Similarly, there is a need to devise a comprehensive strategy on modern and innovative lines in order to improve our agriculture system and the TiE with its innovative ideas and mentoring will play a positive role in this regard, he added. Earlier, in her welcome address Sara Hashwani, the president TiE Islamabad chapter said that the forum with its mentoring and guiding to budding entrepreneurs, investors, financiers and academia would offer conscious entrepreneurship according to the emerging market.

She said that the forum would play a role of a bridge between the idea and capital by supporting students with bright and innovative ideas, people having capital but lacking the direction to invest and workers with novel ideas.

Dr Attaur Rehman, chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) said that it is only innovative idea which determines the success and knowledge and high quality education are leading forces to triumph. He said that education system at our universities should be designed on the lines that it should produce job creators instead of job seekers.

The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) is an entrepreneurial revolution which took a start from Silicon Valley in 1992, is now operational in over 11 countries with 49 chapters.
