Karachi: Five people, including three women, were killed in the name of honour in the Farid Colony area of Orangi Town on Saturday morning.

Two men stormed into a house at 9:30am and shot dead the three women, a girl and a man on suspicion of them having illicit relations, said Mominabad police.

Residents of the area heard the gunshots and informed the police. The bullet-riddled bodies of Nasreen, Shazia, wife of Zahid, her daughter, Zubeida, Zeenat and Zubair, son of Safdar, were found inside the house, which police said was a prostitution den.

Eye-witnesses said that the killers escaped on a motorbike after committing the crime.

Police shifted the bodies to the Civil Hospital Karachi for post-mortems.

“The house where the killings took place was being used as a prostitution den by Nasreen. It has been told to us by their neighbours,” SHO Aurangzeb Khattak told The News.

He informed that Shazia and Zeenat were sex workers, who used to meet their customers at the house.

The man found dead on the spot is believed to be a customer. He was just present in the wrong place at the wrong time, the SHO added.

It appeared to be an act of honour killing on the part of the husbands of Shazia and Zeenat, the SHO quoted the neighbours as saying. The husbands acted together to put an end to this, he added.

The body of Nasreen was claimed by her husband and the body of Zubair was taken away by his family. The bodies of Shazia, Zeenat and Zubeida are at the morgue. The suspects are still at large.
