Threats to The News, Geo reporter condemned

BAHAWALPUR: The Bahawalpur Union of Journalists (BhUJ) general body meeting on Saturday unanimously condemned the protesting students of the Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur, who have threatened The News and Geo correspondent in Bahawalpur, Muhammad Ameen Abbasi.

They students conveyed threats through phone calls and text messages. The BhUJ meeting, held under Muhammad Ameen Abbasi, President, adopted a resolution asking the local administration as well as the district police to take prompt action against the accused.

It termed it as an attack on the freedom of the press. The meeting said protesting students had no right to dictate the media. The meeting has also condemned the role of a part-time reporter of a news channel in instigating the protesting students against the Geo News.
