The Post reporter attacked

LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Press Gallery Committee President and senior reporter The Post Zaheer Shehzad escaped a life attempt when two unknown motorcyclists opened fire on him, subjected him to torture and escaped.

According to details, Zaheer with his family members was returning home after taking his children from school when two persons on a motorcycle stopped him near Shah Farid Square Sabzazar in the jurisdiction of Nawankot police station and started beating him with punches on his face and body. One of them also fired two shots at him but he had a narrow escape.

Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) President Shehzad Hussain Butt, Secretary Naeem Hanif, Lahore Press Club President Mohsin Goraya and Secretary Moazzam Fakhar, while condemning the incident, said providing peaceful atmosphere to media men for their professional duties was the prime responsibility of the government. They called upon the government to take serious notice of this incident, apprehend the attackers and award them exemplary punishment.
