The Nation, Nawa-i-Waqt start publishing Gwadar editions

Lahore   – The Nation and Nawa-i-Waqt have started publishing their Gwadar editions.

Nawa-i-Waqt has the honor that the work which was started by this organization 63 years ago to highlight importance of Gwadar has become vital for economic development of the country. This is also historic moment for the Nawa-i-Waqt Group that the team led by Architect of Nawa-i-Waqt late Majid Nizami which had declared Gwadar essential for country’s development and now led by Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Nawa-i-Waqt Media Group Rameeza Nizami, has begun issuing its edition from Gwadar.

It merits mentioning here that in the first half of 20th century, British airplanes used to stay at Gwadar airport while arriving in India. To overcome defence insecurity, government of Pakistan undertook different surveys some selective parts of which were published by Nawa-i-Waqt in its 25th September, 1958’s edition. According to this report, Pakistan intended to construct a road along its coastline of Arabian Sea till Gwelter, which is also the border point of Pakistan. The purpose to construct this road was to fortify its defence and check smuggling. However, the biggest hurdle in this project was Gwadar region. The report compiled for this purpose pointed out that this was the sole reason which made Pakistan ponder over having Gwadar.

Renowned personalities have declared issuance of Gwadar Edition an important and significant step on the national front.

Chief organizer Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Saifullah Khan Niazik has said that this is an important decision. Gwadar has paramount importance. Regarding Two-Nation Theory, role of Nawa-i-Waqt has been vital. Issuance of The Nation and Nawa-i-Waqt from Gwadar will prove a milestone in country’s journalism history.

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib said, “Gwadar Port is complete. The airport will be completed soon and now it is going to be city of international caliber. This city will usher in era of economic development of the region through CPEC. In the prevailing circumstances, issuance of The Nation and Nawa-i-Waqt Editions from Gwadar is a wise decision. It will start a new series of developments in Gwadar.

Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan Nawa-i-Waqt was an ideological national newspaper and always played its part in country’s progress. Issuance of The Nation and Nawa-i-Waqt’s Gwadar Editions will highlight regions development. It will also bring to light political, economic, civic and social aspects of this international city.

Special aide to Prime Minister Ali Nawaz Awan said The Nation and Nawa-i-Waqt were national newspapers. Leadership of Nawa-i-Waqt has taken a right decision on time. Gwadar will probe a hub of economic development and Nawa-i-Waqt the same part which it has so far played since inception of the country. This is a perfect decision in the national interest, he concluded.
