Karachi: The 1st Sindh International Film Festival will begin in Karachi today at Neuplex Cinemas, the city’s leading multiplex. The two-day event is a part of the ongoing Sindh festival to celebrate Pakistan’s heritage and culture.

One of the main screens at Neuplex will be dedicated to Raindance Selection, a specially programmed strand which has been put together by the Raindance Film Festival and The Independent Film Trust, and will feature some of the best films from the 21st Raindance Film Festival held last year between 25th September and 6th October.

The event will kick off after a red-carpet screening at 7pm. The attendees include Indian actress Shabana Azmi, English actor Roger Ashton-Griffiths who has appeared in numerous high-profile films, including Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York, Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, and will be portraying Mace Tayrell in Season Four of Game of Thrones.

Many directors and producers will conduct question and answer sessions following the screening of their films over the two-day festival.

“The Sindh festival team is excited to curate an eclectic collection of films from all corners of the world for Pakistani audiences. We received an overwhelming amount of submissions and hope you enjoy our final selection of up to 50 shorts, documentaries and features, touching on diverse and often untold stories,” commented Assad Zulfiqar Khan, the director of the Sindh International Film Festival.
