‘Ansoo,’ new documentary on Junaid Jamshed will literally leave you teary-eyed
KARACHI : It still feels like yesterday when we first heard of Junaid Jamshed’s passing. The musician had been on his way home from Chitral when his plane crashed, killing all those onboard and bringing to end one of the most revered eras of Pakistani music.
Junaid may have given up singing by the time of his death but Pakistan is far from forgetting the iconic songs he delivered as part of Vital Signs. Hits like Dil Dil Pakistan and Sanwali Saloni will forever remain etched in the heart of every Pakistani, just as how the void left by Junaid will always unfilled.
However, to make it a little easier, Junoon guitarist Salman Ahmed – along with the Salman and Samina Global Wellness Initiative (SSGWI) – has compiled a short-film featuring the late singer, in honour of his first death anniversary.
Salman shared a link to Ansoo: A Celebration of the Life and Times of a Vital Sign himself on Wednesday, over his personal Twitter account. “Junoonis, due to popular demand on social media and Vital Signs and Junoon fans’ love, Ansoo will be released today,” he posted. “It will give us one whole week to celebrate the life and times of JJ. Stay tuned to this space.”
Ansoo: A celebration of the life and times of a Vital Sign not only offers fans a much-needed glimpse into the man that was Junaid but reveals the power of friendship, love for humanity and respect for diversity. But be warned: the eight-minute clip is likely to bring tears to your eyes.
