Teenage maid stabbed to death

KARACHI: A teenage girl was stabbed to death in a Bahadurabad street on Sunday, police said.

They added that 14-year-old Zahida, daughter of Ghulam Mohammad, used to work along with her mother as a housemaid at a few houses in the locality.

“She was stabbed repeatedly outside one of the houses where she used to work,” said an official of the Bahadurabad police station. While the killer managed to escape following the attack, the girl was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead, the official said.

The body was shifted to the police station and later to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination, Edhi sources said.

The police official said that the victim was a resident of Sherpao Colony, Landhi.

An official investigating the case said that a young boy, Mohammad Sarwar, living close to her residence had an affair with the girl. The official said that the parents of the girl recently learnt about it and scolded their daughter over the affair. “They also had warned the boy,” the police official said.

On Sunday, he said, the suspect reportedly followed the girl to her workplace in Bahadurabad and stabbed her repeatedly as she reached outside the house where she used to work.
