Teacher jailed for rape attempt
TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 4: Additional district and sessions judge Rana Riaz Ahmad on Wednesday handed down eight-year imprisonment and fined Rs30,000 to a seminary teacher for trying to rape a 14 year-old-girl student.
According to the prosecution, complainant Nawaz of Chak 688/28-GB had last year informed the Pirmahal police that his niece ‘A’ had gone to learn the Holy Quran when Qari Ishaq tried to rape her. On raising an alarm, other students and villagers overpowered the teacher and handed him over to the police.
