SUKKUR: Scores of journalists took out a protest rally and observed hunger strike in front of the Jacobabad Press Club on Thursday and demanded immediate arrest of culprits involved in a dacoity at journalist Mukesh Rupeta’s house some five months ago.

The protesting journalists, led by president press club Pervaiz Abro, while shouting slogans against the police failure to arrest the criminals, later took to the city streets. While reaching the house of the district Nazima, the journalists staged a sit-in there.

The journalists strongly condemned the police apathy, saying the Jacobabad police had failed to protect the life and property of civilians.

It is worth mentioning that a dacoity was committed in the house of Mukesh Rupeta, the Jacobabad correspondent of The News and Geo TV, some five months ago. However, the police seem reluctant to take action against the criminals and no arrest has yet been made.

The journalists alleged DPO Jacobabad Muneer Ahmed Khuhro was not cooperating with the journalists and instead harassing them on their demand to arrest the culprits.
