SUKKUR: President and other office bearers of the Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, strongly criticising the PTCL for fixing the local rates at Rs 4.89 during 4:00 pm to 08:00 am, have demanded immediate withdrawal of the package.
In a press release issued in Sukkur on Monday, chamber president Shakeel Ahmed Mukhtiar, former president Iqbal Dawood Pakwala and others said since the privatisation of the PTCL, the new management was coming up with novel ideas.
They said in this connection an advertisement published in various newspapers, only telling the subscribers that local calls made during 4:00 pm to 08:00 am would cost them Rs 4.89 per hour, but it is not made clear whether they have to pay the same charges for a call of two or three minutes.
Rejecting the package of local calls, the president and members of the Sukkur chamber demanded of the PTCL management to make the package voluntary, instead of forcing it upon all the subscribers. They further said that charging Rs 4.89 for a local call was highly condemnable and it should be withdrawn immediately.
