Strong reaction over Sherry’s remarks
LAHORE – Federal Information Minister Sherry Rahman, while talking to Waqt News TV channel said that Waqt News supported one particular party of Punjab. Taking notice of the statement, the Nawa-i-Waqt/ The Nation readers and viewers of ‘Waqt News’ reacted promptly maintaining that Nawa-i-Waqt Group had never supported any particular political party.
“Nawa-i-Waqt is the name of a movement and it has always followed a pro-Pakistan policy. Declaring Waqt News as supporter of some political party of Punjab is absolutely unfair,” the citizens said adding that the ministers and other government people should not talk irresponsibly.
Qudsia Bano, a Defence resident, said that politicians should first take account of their own performance and then criticize the media. Amjad Tabassum of Culshan-i-Ravi said Waqt News was a very reliable news channel and Sherry’s remarks about it did not sound justified. Ghulam Haider Advocate of Kasur said on phone that Nawa-i-Waqt and ’Waqt News’ is the name of an ideology and Majid Nizami is worth all admiration for upholding Pakistan ideology even until today. “The politicians who have detoured away from the Pakistan ideology could say such things as Sherry did,” he added.
Geologist Babar Chaudhry said that in his view Waqt News was a very balanced channel and Sherry must have kept her off ice in mind while giving such remarks.
