Strike against murder of TV journalist

KHAIRPUR: Complete strike was Saturday observed in Ranipur town against the killing of TV journalist Ashiq Mangi. All trading centers, business and shops, markets remained closed while a protest rally was taken out from press club Ranipur to national highway blocking national highway for two hours due to which traffic from both side remained suspended.

The journalists were demanding arrest of accused of murder. They also demanded for providing security to the journalists.

Meanwhile, Soyem of TV journalist Ashiq Mangi was held at Village Narejo of taluka Gambat on Saturday which was attended among others by a large number of journalists, social workers, villagers.

Meanwhile, the Wapda hydro electric central labour union Khairpur took out rally from divisional office to National press club against non acceptance of their demands.

The protest rally led by its leaders including Rashid Ahmed Khoso, Javed Ali Soomro, Ghulam Sarwar Ghanghro, Mir Dhani Bux Solangi, Feroze Ali Abro, Ali Gohar Sangri and others.

They condemned increased prices of utilities and poor law and order in Khairpur.

CRIMINAL ARRESTED

One alleged criminal along with weapon was arrested by Mir Wah police on Saturday.

Police raided near old house and arrested Ali dad alias Dado Dasti and recovered one shotgun along with cartridges from his possession.
