Strike against fake encounter

SUKKUR: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Ratodero on Wednesday against the cold-blooded murder of a young man in an “encounter”. The police killed Imran Ali Sipro, 20, on Tuesday night in a mock encounter and later described him as a criminal. His relatives, however, contested the police claim. All main shopping centres in the town remained closed throughout the day. Hub Ali Sipro has demanded of the Sindh High Court to take suo moto notice of the killing of his son and registration of a case against the policemen. Agencies add: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has ordered an inquiry into the killing of Imran Ali Sipro. He directed Larkana Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Akhtar Gorchani to conduct the probe during his visit to Larkana on Wednesday. Meanwhile, National Front chairman Mumtaz Ali Bhutto on Wednesday condemned the killing of Sipro. In a statement, he said the incident occurred when the Sindh chief minister was himself present in Larkana. He said the incident shows dismal performance of the police and administration.
