SRDP to be completed by 2010
This was stated by Sindh Rural Development Project Director Fazal A Nizamani, while addressing the 4th session of a 15-day training programme on Monday, organised for the capacity building of Supervising Tapedars and Revenue Department Tapedars at the Sindh Civil Services and Local Government Academy Tandojam.Fazal said the project has been launched with the financial assistance of the ADB. He said 80 per cent ($50 million) funds for the project was provided by the ADB, while the Sindh government contributed 18 per cent ($11.20 million) cost. He added that two per cent cost ($1.2 million) would be contributed by beneficiaries/community.He said five districts of lower Sindh – Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Sanghar – have been included in the project due to an increased level of poverty there. He said it was a multi-dimensional project, as it attempts to improve the people’s living standard, protect their legal rights and provide them with agro-based training.
