Solidarity expressed with assault victim

HYDERABAD: A large number of activists of civil society organisations held a march from Sindh University old campus to Hyderabad press club on Sunday in protest against criminal assault on a minor Kolhi girl in Nagarparkar and registration of false cases against the protesting villagers.

Sindh Hari Porhiyat Council president Punhal Sario, coordinator of HRCP Dr Ashu Thama, convener All Kolhi Association Veerji Kolhi and others said that nothing had changed for the poor people of Tharparkar district where influential people and waderas continued to commit inhuman atrocities against them even during democratic government.

They said that elected members of assemblies from Tharparkar had kept silence on the heinous crime. Like Rahmiki bazaar incident, the elected representatives were supporting the tormentors of the victim, they said.

They demanded that the accused in the abduction and rape case of Kasturi Kolhi should be arrested and strict action should be taken against Nagarparkar police for victimising innocent people.

Kasturi Kolhi who also participated in the march said that if justice was not done she would be left with no other option but to commit suicide.
