Sindhi Daily journalist Ghulam Asghar Khand brutally murdered by unknown assailants in Khairpur

SUKKUR: A journalist, Ghulam Asghar Khand, who was associated with a Sindhi Daily, Sobh, in Ahmedpur town of Khairpur, was attacked and killed by ‘unknown’ killers on Monday. Ghulam Asghar was 42. According to the reports, Ghulam Asghar was attacked and killed by some ‘unknown’ armed men riding on motorcycles when he was sitting at his Otaq (guest house) in village Ameer Bux within the limits of Ahmedpur Police station. He received as many as 9 gunshot wounds and died on the spot. The body of the murdered journalist was shifted to PirJo Goth Taluka Hospital. The leaders of the different journalism organizations strongly condemned the killing of another journalist in the region. They said that his elder brother and journalist, Mushtaq Ahmed Khand, was also killed during an attack way back in 2013 in Khairpur town during a political gathering.

No FIR was registered when this story was filed.

Meanwhile, SSP Khairpur Roohal Khan Khoso, when contacted, confirmed the murder of the journalist and claimed that a police team under the supervision of ASP Nouman Zaffar has been formed to investigate the murder of the journalist.
