Sindh Minister Orders Urgent Resolution of Journalists’ Plot Allocation; Backs International Media Conference
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has ordered the immediate resolution of issues of the allocation of plots tp journalists. This directive was given during a meeting with the newly elected Karachi Press Club (KPC) leadership, led by President Fazil Jamili. Governing Body members Hafeez Baloch, Hammad Hussain, and Mona Siddiqui also attended the meeting.
Minister Memon congratulated the new KPC governing body on their election and expressed his best wishes. The delegation outlined various challenges journalists face, particularly delays in allocating plots. Responding to these concerns, Memon issued instructions for expedited action to provide relief to the journalists.
Highlighting the partnership between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government, the Sindh government, and the KPC, Memon recognized the press club’s essential role in promoting freedom of expression and democracy. He reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to protecting journalists’ rights and its consistent efforts to safeguard press freedom across different periods.
Memon emphasized the completion of unfinished projects initiated by the previous KPC governing body, pledging full support to the current leadership. He stressed the importance of addressing journalists’ challenges, including those affecting print and electronic media houses. He reiterated the Sindh government’s readiness for cooperation for the upgrade of the Karachi Press Club and its progressive initiatives.
The meeting also included discussions about a proposed international media conference. KPC President Fazil Jamili briefed the minister about the event. Memon assured full government cooperation to ensure the conference’s success.
