Sindh governor hails role of media in creating cordial atmosphere

KARACHI- Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has appreciated the role of media in creating cordial atmosphere between provinces and the federal government.

The governor was talking to a delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) led by its President Mujibur Rehman Shami, which called on him at the Governor House here on May 9, 2003.

Dr Ibad said that newspapers help in providing opportunity of improvement by pinpointing shortcomings of the government and guide how to redress the same.

Regarding the newly launched Web site of the Governor House, he said the results were excellent and higher than the expectations and a large number of people were availing of the opportunity, even those living in far-flung areas of the province.

Earlier, CPNE President Mujibur Rahman Shami thanked the governor for inviting the members of the delegation and suggested that the Year 2004 should be declared as the “Year of Quaid-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan” and the under-construction Islamabad Airport building as “Quaid-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan Airport”.

APNS President Arif Nizami, Government of Sindh Adviser on Information Salahuddin Haider and Information Secretary Mehtab Akbar Rashidi were also present on the occasion.
