Sindh CM directs IGP to provide security to media houses

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the Inspector General of Sindh Police to provide foolproof security to all offices of media houses in Karachi to ensure that the employees, equipments, vehicles and other assets of these media organisations remained safe and secure.

The CM directed this while talking to managers of media offices while visiting their offices in Karachi on Wednesday night. He expressed solidarity with the media staff. Special Assistants to the CM Waqar Mehdi, Rashid Rabani and senior police officers accompanied the chief minister during the visit.

Talking to media persons on the occasion, the Sindh chief minister held out the notion that media institutions were like mirrors to the society and were also considered as fastest means of communication.

He said that the terrorists had become the enemy of all segments of society. He said that the entire mainstream media, all the segments of society, and political parties were on same page against terrorism. The CM said that the PPP had struggled and made sacrifices for freedom of expression. He said that his government was enjoying friendly relations with media organisations and the Sindh govt had always provided the required security, whenever it was demanded by any individual or organisations.

He assured the circles related to media that his government would continue to provide utmost security cover to media houses. He asked the police officers to evolve a strategy in consultation with media managers for their security.
