Sherry rejects western media’s propaganda on security of Pak nukes
ISLAMABAD: Former Information Minister Sherry Rehman strongly rejected the propaganda by western media on the security of nuclear assets of Pakistan after the OBL operation, and emphasised that the assets were in safe custody with a foolproof command and control system.
Pakistan, being mindful of its international obligations, had been extending cooperation on all counter terrorism efforts, including exchange of information and intelligence,” she said in her meetings with leading heads of the committees of European Parliament (EP).
Sherry Rehman, who just concluded a visit to Brussels to attend the 5th Global Discourse on Kashmir, held a series of meetings with leading heads of the committees of European Parliament.
In her meetings with the committees of European Parliament at the Brussels and while responding to growing questions after the OBL operation, Sherry said pursuant to such cooperation, Pakistan had arrested several high profile terrorists, and will continue this search. “Finding Osama bin Laden on Pakistani soil has been a shocking blow to the nation, and deconstructing this crisis will indeed be a challenging moment for Pakistan, but there is no side-stepping it,” she added.
She said the resolve of the Pakistani government and nation to resist non-state terrorism will definitely harden after this episode, but at no point will Pakistanis accept a further intrusion on the ground.
During her visit to Brussels, Sherry Rehman met with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Gabriele Abertini, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Human Rights Heidi Hautala, Deputy Secretary General for European External Action Service Helga Schmidt and, Head of the International Crisis Group Madam Louise Arbour.
