SHC issues notices to Nadra, FIA for denying passport to woman

Karachi: The Sindh High Court issued notices to the Director General (DG) of the National Database Registration Authority and the DG FIA on the petition of a woman against the non-issuance of her passport.

Ms. Safia submitted that her age was mistakenly mentioned by Nadra as 93, while she was 55. The petition maintained that due to this mistake, she was not being issued her passport by the FIA passport and immigration department. The petitioner submitted that she is a widow and wanted to perform Umraj with her brother and prayed the court direct FIA and Nadra to issue her passport and correct the information on her identity card.

Cost imposed on bank officials: Sindh High Court imposed a cost of Rs.10,000 against private bank officials for failing to submit counter affidavits in a Rs.190 million lawsuit, despite court notices and directed them to file the same on the next date of hearing. The court directed them to deposit the cost in the Sindh High Court Bar Association employees’ fund.

The order came on a lawsuit filed by Salman Siddiqui who sued Faisal Bank’s administration for taking his resignation under duress and blacklisting him from bank service. The Plaintiff submitted that bank administration removed him from service as he pointed out several irregularities in banking transactions.

The defendants were directed to file counter affidavits on the lawsuit, However, on non-compliance of the court order, the SHC imposed Rs10,000 as cost on bank officials Mehreen Amin Khan, Arij Ali, Syed Nadeem Ahmed and others.
