Shan Dahar case: Chief Secretary suspends two senior medical officers

LARKANA: Chief Secretary, Sindh, Sajjad Saleem Hotiana has placed two senior medical officers of BS-18 under suspension in exercise of powers conferred under Section 4 of the Removal from Service (Special Powers),Sindh Ordinance, 2000.

The names of the suspended doctors are Dr Abdul Ghaffar Kandhro, Incharge of Rural Health Center, Badah and Dr Ali Gohar Chandio, Senior Medical Officer of Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, posted in surgery department.

They were found guilty of negligence during the treatment to journalist Shan Dahar on the eve on new-year night. The order further mentioned that headquarter of the above-mentioned doctors, during the period of suspension, shall be at health department.

The order further added that the doctors shall draw pay and allowances during the period of their suspension, as admissible under the rules but further proceedings shall be initiated against them for misconduct by issuing show cause notices.

It may be mentioned that an inquiry was conducted by the health department officials in which it was established that these two doctors showed their negligence while performing their duties due to which the senior journalist of private news channel ‘Abb Takk’ expired.
