Seven journalists held in Shabqadar
CHARSADDA: The local police arrested seven journalists for covering Taliban activities in the Shabqadar Tehsil of Charsadda district on Saturday.
The arrested media persons said that Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ihsan-ud-Din had recently warned them to either stop giving coverage to the Taliban in the area or face the consequences. The media persons did not heed to his orders and continued their routine work. This infuriated the police who raided the press club and arrested Rahmanullah, along with six other journalists.
Reacting to the arrest of journalists, lawyers, shopkeepers and journalists staged a protest rally against the police high-handedness.
