Sethi lauds media for cooperation in polls

LAHORE : Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi said that the role of the media has assumed great importance in the present age and the world has taken the form of a global village due to the vigorous role of media.

He said the media also played an important part in exposing corruption and highlighting social problems. He said the Pakistani media extended full cooperation to the government in the general elections.

He was talking to a nine-member delegation of print and electronic media of Bangladesh which called on him at Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Tuesday. Sethi said politics was the name of governance and the masses always remembered such political parties as provided them good administration.

He said that an impartial caretaker government was set up in Pakistan for the elections. Sethi said that he was nominated by the PPP as caretaker chief minister and the opposition fully agreed with the move. He said that his experience as caretaker chief minister had been memorable.

Referring to the relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Sethi said that there was a need for promoting contact at public level between the two countries. He said that it was also important to promote political and economic relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
