Services of veteran journalists, columnists, broadcasters acknowledged

Senior working and retired journalists, photojournalists, columnists and broadcasters were given awards to acknowledge their contributions and services at a prestigious and memorable function of “First Media Awards 2022-23” here at Rawalpindi Arts Council.

Veteran politician and artiste Senator Taj Haider, former Naib Tehsil Nazim Sajjad Khan, President of All Pakistan Overseas Youth Federation Asma Ismail, Director of FM Radio Channel Dosti Ms. Hoping Ping, Chairman of PAI Khurshid Barlas, social and political leader Jamshed Khan, promoter of cultural events and former bureaucrat Tayyab Khan, executive member of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce Tariq Mughal, Secretary of Pakistan Newspaper Vendors Federation and Ex-Federal Minister Tikka Khan, Former President of PFUJ Nasir Zaidi, President of PFUJ Afzal Butt, National Press Club President Anwar Raza, Treasurer Nayyar Ali, senior broadcasters Ishrat Fatima and Taskeen Zafar and families of journalists participated in large numbers.

In recognition of the services and abilities of the media persons, awards were given to the journalists in the ceremony. Over two hundred media persons were given beautifully designed awards while the senior most were also given a Jinnah Caps.

A musical was also arranged for the entertainment of the audience. Young singers Rajiya Iman and Hammad Raja also performed. Nasir Aslam Raja, the moderator of the event, said that apart from acknowledging the services and abilities of journalists, getting those journalists out of their homes who are confined to their homes after retirement or are a little disappointed due to illness, was the major objective of the award ceremony.

He said the purpose of the ceremony was to organize an entertainment for the families of the working journalists. Journalists participating in the ceremony described the awards ceremony as memorable and historic event and said that in this era of price hike and inflation, the presence of all journalists without discrimination made the ceremony memorable.
