Senior Journalist Salahuddin Achakzai Fatally Shot During Jirga in Chaman
Salahuddin Achakzai, the Chief Editor of Daily Itla-e-Aam, was killed during a jirga in Chaman’s Spain Bund area on November 24. The incident occurred during a reconciliation meeting between Achakzai and Faqir Muhammad Shamkzai. Tensions escalated, leading to an exchange of gunfire that resulted in Achakzai’s immediate death. Two of his associates sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
The administration of Qila Abdullah district reported that the Levies Force promptly arrived at the scene following the incident. Achakzai’s body was subsequently transported to his native village after initial investigations.
The assailants, including Shamkzai, fled the scene following the shooting. Law enforcement agencies have initiated a manhunt to apprehend the suspects.
