Senior Journalist Barkat Ali Gadhi attacked

LARKANA-May 18, 2007: Five men, armed with knives and batons, attacked and injured Senior Journalist, Barkat Ali Gadhi of the Daily ‘Nau Sijj.’ As a result, the journalist fainted after which the culprits fled.

According to details, Gadhi was hospitalised, and on recovery, gave a statement identifying two of the culprits as Karim Bakhsh Jatoi and Niaz Dakhan.

Larkana Press Club called for an emergency meeting in which the club’s President, Ali Gul Sangi, along with Abdul Jabbar Baloch and other journalists announced an ultimatum for the culprits to be arrested within 24 hours, otherwise all official events will be boycotted by them. They also declared that they would hold a demonstration in front of Pakistan Chowk to protest the attack.
