Schoolgirl rescued from being raped

KHAIRPUR: A schoolgirl was rescued from being raped here and three accused were arrested, police said. The News has learnt that accused Mashooque Shah Rashdi, brother of prominent PPPP leader Syed Mahboob Shah Rashdi, Syed Samiullah Shah Rashdi and Syed Zaman Shah Rashdi allegedly intercepted schoolgirl ‘H’ near his house, kidnapped her and took her to his house with the intention of rape, but on her raising alarm, the citizens along with police entered the house and freed the girl. Police arrested the accused, registering a case under section 11/16 of the Hudood Ordinance.

The incident created scare among the schoolgirls. Reports said that Mashooque Rashdi was ìannoyingî the schoolgirls for several months and the parents had complained to his brothers about it several times but they paid no attention and declared him as mentally sick. Reports said the victim girl was a student of class VIII and when she was returning to her house along with other students of the elementary school she was intercepted. The non-governmental organisations of Khairpur have demanded severe action against the accused and demanded protection of the schoolgirls. B-section police Khairpur are further investigating.
