Scholarship for journalists announced
ISLAMABAD- The United Nations Correspondents Association has announced a scholarship for Pakistani young journalists to cover the 55th General Assembly session, which begins on September 5 next.
The Dag Hammarskjold Memorial Scholarship Fund fellowship offers a unique opportunity for promising young journalists from Asia, Africa and Latin America to see the United Nations at work and to report on its proceedings for news media in their home countries.
Applicants must be full-time, professional journalists between 25 and 35 years old and employed by recognized print and broadcasting media organizations. They must have a good working knowledge of English.
Application form can be obtained from the United Nations Information Centre in Islamabad. The deadline for submission is April 30 next.
Over the past 38 years, fellowships have been awarded to over 111 journalists from the developing world.
These awards require the presence of journalists selected, in New York for two months during the General Assembly session and should be regarded as an opportunity for employers and journalists to provide their audiences with special-assignment news coverage the UN headquarters.
