SC orders police to speed up recovery of journalist’s son
ISLAMABAD: A three-member Supreme Court bench directed the Islamabad police on Wednesday to expedite efforts for the recovery of the abducted son of an Islamabad-based senior journalist.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday was hearing a suo motu case. Police Inspector-General (IG) Kaleem Imam, Deputy IG Binyamin, and Senior Superintendent of Police Tahir Alam appeared before the court on notice.
Binyamin told the court that they were making all-out efforts for the recovery and safe release of Hassan Sharjeel, the abducted son of Shakeel Ahmed Turabi, but they had failed in recovering the missing student so far. Advertisements have been placed for this purpose in almost all newspapers, he said.
