ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday formed a five-member larger bench to hear a constitutional petition seeking orders against unconstitutional steps under the country’s current political situation. The bench comprising the CJP, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and Justice Mushir Alam, will hear the petition filed by Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Kamran Murtaza on Friday. Murtaza requested the court to declare that no authority or institution would be allowed to violate basic human rights. He also urged the court to issue a direction in this regard. Earlier, he told the SCBA emergency executive board meeting that the legal fraternity would resist any extra constitutional act in the wake of the current political turmoil. He said that the SCBA was monitoring the situation very keenly. Meanwhile, the SC formed six benches to hear cases in the coming week.
