SC directs IGs of Sindh, Punjab to take interest in Sofia’s case
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Inspectors General (IGs) of Sindh and Punjab police to take personal interest in the custody case of the two minor girls of fashion model, Sofia Mirza.
A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday expressed dissatisfaction with the report presented by the investigation officer and rejected it. Observing that proper action should have been taken against those responsible, the court adjourned the hearing till June 11. In response to the court’s query, Umar Farooq, counsel for the children’s father, expressed his inability to identify the exact location of the children. Sofia Mirza claimed, through her counsel, that her kids might have been taken away to Norway or Dubai by her former husband.
