SC asked to take notice of ‘enforced disappearance’

HYDERABAD:A resident of Qasimabad, Syed Mukhtiar Shah, has appealed to superior judiciary to take notice of disappearance of his maternal uncle Syed Basheer Hussain Shah, who was reportedly picked by some state agency from Hyder Chowk on December 25. Speaking at a news conference at the Hyderabad press club on Wednesday, he said that his uncle was associated with the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz five years ago but he had given up politics and was working in a printing press.

He said that after losing his job, Basheer Shah had come to Hyderabad for an interview with some TV channel. Mukhtiar Shah said that they had contacted the city police stations but received no information about the whereabouts of his uncle. He said that his uncle was a patient of ulcer and jaundice and his life was in danger. He said that if any case was registered against him, he should be produced in the court of law. Answering a question, he said that they had received information that his uncle was whisked away in a car by some mufti-clad persons. He suspected that they belonged to some state agency.
