Peshawar: Saddia Mazhar, a distinguished freelance journalist renowned for her exemplary investigative reporting and commitment to public interest journalism, has once again been honored for her outstanding contributions.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission has awarded her the prestigious RTI (Right to Information) Award in acknowledgment of her relentless use of the Right to Information laws to address critical public interest issues and for her dedication to reporting on information obtained through RTI requests.
The award, which recognizes her significant impact in the realm of transparency and accountability, was conferred on Saddia Mazhar by the KP RTI Commission. Unfortunately, due to personal commitments, she was unable to attend the award distribution ceremony held in Peshawar.
Saddia Mazhar’s journalistic prowess extends beyond her work as a freelance journalist contributing stories to prominent publications such as DW, Dawn, and The News on Sunday. She also holds the role of Editor at “The Reporters,” a digital media platform exclusively dedicated to covering RTI-related stories and developments regarding RTI laws in Pakistan.
This is not the first time Saddia Mazhar has been recognized for her exceptional commitment to the principles of transparency and accountability. Last year, she received the prestigious RTI Champion Award from the Coalition on Right to Information, a collation comprising over 50 non-governmental organizations in Pakistan. This recognition underscored her pivotal role in advancing the cause of RTI journalism in the country
The journalist community has come together to extend their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Saddia Mazhar for her remarkable achievements in the field of RTI journalism. Her dedication to uncovering crucial information and shedding light on public interest issues continues to make a significant impact in Pakistan’s media landscape.
