Rs200m grant for journalists colony

LAHORE, Feb 12: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi said on Thursday that he had approved the housing colony for Lahore journalists which would soon be launched after a legislation by the assembly.

Talking to newsmen at the Fortress Stadium here, Pervaiz Elahi said he had approved a summary for the colony, permitting a grant of Rs200 million for the purpose.

The colony would be established through a law which would be submitted to the assembly for adoption after formal approval of the cabinet in the next few days, he said.

He dispelled the impression that Indian Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Amrinder Singh had rejected the horse which he had gifted to him during his recent visit to Lahore.

The transportation of animals from one country to another required a (health clearance) certificate which the Punjab Livestock Department had issued. The horse would be sent to Mr Singh in near future, he said.

Meanwhile, the Lahore Press Club and its president, Arshad Ansari, have thanked the chief minister for taking interest in the journalists colony project
