Renowned Journalist, Poet Asar Ali Chauhan Passes Away at 86
On February 24, renowned journalist, poet, writer, and columnist Rana Asar Ali Chauhan, widely recognized as the “Poet of Pakistan Ideology,” passed away at the age of 86.
Asar Chauhan embarked on his journalistic career in 1958 from Sargodha before making his mark in Lahore. His contributions to the media industry included the launch of the weekly magazine Panjab in 1971 and the daily Siyasat on July 11, 1973, with editions published from Lahore, Sargodha, and Multan. He also introduced the Punjabi magazine Chanan.
Throughout his career, he wrote columns for leading newspapers such as Daily Pakistan, Jang, and Nawa-i-Waqt, maintaining his association with Nawa-i-Waqt until his final breath. He had close ties with veteran journalist Majid Nizami who honored him with the title “Poet of Pakistan Ideology.”
At the time of his passing, Asar Chauhan was working on his autobiography, but he could not complete it.
