RCS says court decisions not to affect drive

KARACHI, January 12: The Research and Collection Services (RCS), private sector organization entrusted with the task of collection of TV sets fees for PTV, said its drive is not affected by various court decisions on the subject.

In a statement issued here Tuesday, the RCS said it hoped to be able to collect Rs. 441 million, contract amount which it has to pay PTV by the end of the second phase.

RCS said that it has more than 12,000 workers going from door to door in eight regions and 93 cities of the country.

A spokesman of the RCS clarified that litigation over the validity of licenses for satellite dishes did not affect he the companyÂ’s collection drive as ” we are only collecting fees enforced by PTV in accordance with the laws currently in force”.

The spokesman further that an interim order against house to house search also did not affect RCS because the company was issuing challans in its door to door campaign for TV sets only which does not fall within restrictions on house to house search for satellite dishes.
