ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid on Thursday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s statement of planting 100 million trees was just an addition to his false claims.

“Either there was no existence of these trees or the resources of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government were being plundered under the garb of 100 million trees,” he said in a statement. “When did this gigantic task take place?”

Imran Khan reiterates vows to plant one billion trees in K-P.

The minister said that the PTI leader has not given any details about the immense workforce required for the job, mode of purchase and transportation of such a huge number of saplings.

Urging the independent media persons to verify Imran’s tall claims, Pervaiz said, Imran is harping on the claim of 100 million trees, but no one has yet witnessed the process of purchase, transportation and plantation of such a huge number of plants.

“Even the media which keeps the people updated all the time, had not yet aired, or published any news on this process,” he added.

Rashid asked Imran to arrange a visit of parliamentarians, media representatives and civil society to the plantation site.

He also asked the PTI chief to present before the people source of purchase of 100 million saplings, its cost as well as the expenditure incurred on the plantation process. APP
